Sotomayor for the Supreme Court, a ruling she made in a lower court was overturned by the supreme court. She had said that white firefighters were not being discriminated against when denied promotions based on testing administered to determin promotions. The testing was done by a firm to gaurantee racial equality in the testing and when administered the ones that scored the best to be promoted were the whites. So when presented to Sotomayor she decided that they couldn't be promoted because they were white clearly showing her inability to not use race in her judgements and thus her inability to give an impartial ruling.

I haven't kept up with the news lately. So whats going on with her? Doe's she still have to have a hearing or how far along have they came?

No hearings yet--GOP's been delaying hearings in order to review her case history in full.

As for this ruling, it's not the first time the Supreme Court upheld a decision in the Appellate Courts--and, it was only by a 5-4 ruling, so it's iffy in terms of legal interpretation--4 somewhat agreed with Sotomayor, 5 didn't. But it will be painted that she's racist against white men, no matter what the actual interpretation of the laws are.

But--the main core of La Raza is for the advancement of Mexican-Americans & Latino-Americans. Just like the NAACP--which I know likely doesn't help the POV from which many on this board will see the organization. Just like the Masons are an organization of Judeo-Christians

You said there is no real difference between masons and them. You may need to read up more on both of those groups. Ive known a few Mason's and to be honest ive never seen any of them waving a mexican flag in a parade.

I have read enough about them to form my opinion. You will never convince me that that masons and NCLR are alike. I think they should encourage the advancement of the country as a whole. Not separate us. Honestly who are they suppose to advance over?

How can it be interprited as iffy when the city made every effort by going to an outside firm that specializes in making test nonbiased to gaurantee that there was no bias. And hasn't sonia been quoted many times as saying she was better suited to judge because she was a latin woman. If that isn't the deifinition of a racist comment then you definitely need to take the obama blinders off.
